How’s Your Quarantine Hair Looking?

2comments Permalink 1

Hair salons are closed, nail salons are closed, eyelash extension parlors are closed, day spas are closed… how are you ladies holding up? LOL!

I see memes floating around the internet about how women are going to look like broke bald eagles after this whole #StayHome initiative is over, and that got me thinking about my current state.

At a time when self-care should be key, I haven’t really been focusing on that.

I’ve been homeschooling, running errands, doing all kinds of things behind the scenes for future ventures… but I haven’t stopped to pamper myself.

I need to do at-home facials, apply exfoliators, eat right, work out, stay hydrated and keep minding my own business.

Speaking of hydration, my hair sure has been needing it lately. I haven’t done much to it at all, and I’ve grown a bit too lazy to care.

That all changes this week!

Hair salons are closed; and although I’ve only been twice in the last 10 years, I at least wanted the option. I’m due for a trim in June, so can someone please tell ‘Rona to go away so outside can open up again? Sheesh.

One of the steps I remember while getting a silk press is the steam treatment. Later, I actually bought a portable one because I read all about the benefits of steam.

Well, life happened, and I’ve probably only tried it out MAYBE twice. Sadly enough, I don’t even know if I liked it or if it really made a difference for my hair. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m breaking it back out.

Since I frequently get requests to review items, I’ll review the Q-Redew Hair Steamer. I paid for it with my own coins, so you know my review will be nothing but the truth.

It costs a good $80 (I got mine during a promo for like $60), but I’ll tell you with my ultra coarse 4zzzzz hair if it’s worth it. No L.O.C. Moisture Method this time. Just steam. Dassit.

(I’ve tried to look up reviews via YouTube like we all do, but that’s hard for me because there’s usually never someone with my exact hair type and density. )

Next, I want to test that blasted EZ Detangler brush that keeps popping up on my timeline. I’m more of a wide-toothed comb girl, so I’ll really be testing it out on my sons, who have different hair textures.

But this week—the steamer. I’m not going to use it until I hit the “record” button because I think you deserve my raw opinions.

If it’s a waste of money, you should know. If I get burned, let it be a warning to you.

See you Friday Saturday! And remember to treat yoself!

Can’t wait to hear the review. I really want to focus on growth this year. I cut out the remaining color right before quarantine. Now I need to focus on doing the things to promote healthy hair growth and retention.
