After years of frustration, I set a mission for myself to prove that black hair CAN grow! I’ve been relaxed, texlaxed and natural, and every length from barely ear length to mid-back. I vlog about my techniques on YouTube to help other women of color grow healthy hair.
My goal is to achieve natural belly button-length hair (go big or go home, right?), and I post updates about my journey there. I make new videos often, so subscribe to HOPEsaidit and stay updated!
Here’s a look at my past videos (from newest to oldest):

Just starting my hair journey, after a bad relaxer where I over processed and under moisturized nape & suffered breakage in the middle of my nape and lower crown some. My current nape is appromiately 1′ inches long in the area that broke… Little to say I’m devastated by this set back to obtain length and growth. I have since started a hair journey with a strict regimen to regrow not only this area but 8.5′ everywhere else which will bring all other areas to 28′ … My nape will b ons lnger journey of 3.5 years which I’m hoping to retain 19.5′ inches of growth. I also will be. Textlaxing using the half& half method with plastic cap on 12-14 week post perm and see if I can thicken and because may hair is high porosity due to chemials & color ROUX products have been wonderful and ACV rinse.. I’musing protective hair styles now aand loving it so I know I’m going to love this transition into texlaxing !!! Wish me luck and any advice will be appreciated

Hey there!
I got your email and replied to you there, but just in case someone else is reading this and has the same problem, I’ll say it again (hope you don’t mind 🙂 )
I actually know exactly how you feel because my nape suffered from breakage too. Braiding up the area did WONDERS for me.
The trick for me was to braid that back section of hair horizontally (not vertically like you would with traditional cornrows.) If you wear weaves/wigs, it’s easy to cover up. If you wear your real hair, you could still do it. Just braid that one row horizontally and bobby pin the tail of the braid to hide it. Then, you can wear your hair down over it. Even if you wear your hair in a ponytail, it will still stay hidden. While that section is in the braid, keep it moisturized (if necessary) with braid spray to help nurture it back to health.
I think this method helped my nape to grow because the area stopped getting manipulated and put under unnecessary stress.
Keep me posted!
