Twist and Grow Hair Update

This isn’t me. My twists are chunkier, but I’ll do my reveal this week. 🙂

Every time it’s time for me to give a hair update, I start dragging my feet. I think psychologically, I don’t want to deal with it. Why? Because I suffered a setback, people!

I’ve come leaps and bounds from where I was. It was tragic seeing my chewed-up ends and thinning hair in what seemed like an overnight transformation. (Oh, the horror… )

In March, I made the decision to embark upon a super aggressive growth journey using protective styles. Well, a protective style—twists.

Usually, people put in twists overnight and unravel them for a fresh twistout look. There will be no unraveling for me. Even though twists aren’t really the best look for me, I chose hair goals over hairstyle. I’ll put some hair ornaments in it sometimes to spruce it up, but growth is all I’m focused on.

My hair stays twisted and tucked away, and it shall remain so until the year 2022. It’s so easy to maintain that I might stretch this look out until 2023. Either way, I’m not letting up until I reach my goal.

What’s my goal? Glad you asked. I want to be back at almost waist length with more thickness.

My progress isn’t too shabby, either. I would say I’m very close lengthwise, but my thickness needs work—a lot of work.

My twists start off thick and lush and then plummet to a sad, thinning death starting at about 5 inches from my scalp. The good news is that there’s new growth sprouting, and thickness is on the horizon. The bad news is that it’ll take a good two years for everything to catch up.

I have definitely learned my lesson about not caring for my hair. Goodness! A couple months of laziness can equal years of getting things back on track. Black hair is not to be played with. LOL!

That’s what this week’s video is about. I’m talking about my hair update, giving you all a length check and updating you on what I’ve been using on my hair.

I said I was going to start drinking fenugreek as well, but I heard it makes you gain weight and what not. I might have to go the topical route instead. This should be fun.
