I haven’t really celebrated my birthday for the past few years. When it lands during a pregnancy stint or maternity leave, it’s hard to fully enjoy it—at least for me.
So when I knew that my birthday would not involve a baby using my body for shelter or food, I was hype! AND it was going to land on Easter? (Turn up! Turn up! Turn up!)
I just knew I was going to have a “Jesus is Alive, and So Am I”-themed party.
Sidebar: It’s very important to note that I’m not a party girl. I don’t throw them, and I barely attend them. So, my “turn up” was really just going to be dancing with the kids, eating a non-keto cake and ordering some food when the boys go to sleep.
Either way, it was going to be lit! (The cool kids still say that, right?) Nevermind. I’m almost a year older. It was just going to be fun for me, okay?
And then, the ‘Rona happened. Once I started seeing the celebrity-laced #StayHome campaigns around the end of March, I got a little nervous.
Surely, the world will open back up in time for Easter, right? RIGHT?
Nope. Restrictions got even tighter. Instead of being encouraged to adhere to social distancing, we’re now being urged to not leave the house unless absolutely necessary. And even then, you’re asked to wear a mask of some sort.
Sheeeeesh. That escalated quickly.
So, here I am for the third or fourth year not being able to fully roam around to celebrate the day of my birth.
I’ll have a quarantine birthday.
The sad part is that people the person who always celebrates it by at least coming over for dinner and a piece of cake—a.k.a. my sister—can’t even do that. #StayHome
So, I’d like to reschedule my birthday. Say “happy birthday” to me on April 12 all you want, but the real celebration date is to be determined.
Who am I kidding? I’m not a partier and life is too busy, so I’ll never circle back to celebrating it. So, here’s plan B (and I need your help with this).
I’m going to throw an Instagram Live party. I may even stream it on YouTube and Facebook if I can get everything set up, but it’ll be on Instagram for sure.
My boys are going to be with me, and we’re just going to play music and have a great time for like…15 minutes. HAHA!
The Instagram Live birthday part is scheduled for Sunday, April 12 at 5 p.m. CST.
If you’re so inclined to do so, send a “happy birthday” in there for me or drop a few emojis so that my two youngest can feel the party love.
I’m competing with Easter, so I’m very aware that this will not be a crowded party. But I’m doing it anyways because it’s my birthday, and I’ll do what I want.
In this week’s video, I’m going over quarantine birthday ideas. What in the world are you supposed to do to celebrate if we’re all holed up in our homes? Let me know, and then I’ll share your ideas (and probably implement them in my virtual party).
See you Friday for the video about quarantine birthdays, but you better drop in on Sunday, April 12 at 5 p.m. for my birthday celebration.
