Remember back in the day when online dating used to raise brows? I guess it still does for some people, but it’s not too alarming anymore to hear that a couple met through a website or on social media.
I had a conversation the other day that let me know that people are taking this online stuff further than just dating. They’re having full-blown weddings online.
Is that weird? Here’s the scenario. Let me know what you think.
During this coronavirus pandemic, nearly everyone has had to conduct meetings online. Once “quarantine birthdays” started becoming a thing, couples started getting creative with their nuptials as well.
One couple decided that instead of postponing the wedding, they would hold a full-on ceremony online. Nothing else (because of COVID).
The bride got dolled up and wore her wedding dress. The groom was decked out in his tuxedo and corsage. They were in separate rooms in front of separate computer screens.
The officiant, family members and friends all had to log into the Zoom ceremony to attend. And the music was whatever R&B wedding playlist the groom had playing through his phone.
The ceremony lasted about 15 minutes because no one had to walk down the aisle. To show her big reveal, the bride simply turned off her video feed until the officiant introduced her.
Vows were exchanged after the officiant gave his message about a Godly love connection. (Pastors are always trying to come up with a trendy sermon title.)
A virtual kiss was given by the couple when prompted, and the groom started blasting Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Through the Phone” until everyone logged off.
One thing’s for sure. That couple made sure that NOBODY was going to catch that ‘Rona while attending their wedding ceremony, not even themselves.
Could you do that? Would you even want to? LOL!
I’ll share my thoughts about Wi-Fi weddings in this week’s video. I’ll also include all the feedback I receive as well because, so far, this topic has been more polarizing than expected.
