I can Google with the best of them, but nowhere in my searches about the coronavirus did it say anything about causing weight gain.
The only symptoms I knew about were fever, dry cough, tiredness and respiratory problems. If there’s anything this national pandemic and shutdown has taught me, it’s that a little fluff is definitely a side effect.
No, I don’t have Dat ‘Rona. (How many nicknames can a disease have? Rona, Ro-Ro, that beverage…) But the impact of this disease can definitely pack on the pounds.
Mostly everyone is at home, gyms are closed, and food is at an arm’s reach at all times. Even if you run around to get fresh air, if that’s allowed, it won’t take away the 600 extra calories you’re eating each day.
Let me find out you’re putting on Dat ‘Rona weight!
Just when I thought I cleared the hurdle of marriage weight, and then clipped the hurdle a little bit with baby weight, I’ll be dog’goned if this disease has me coming into work looking like I just gave birth again.
Can you imagine the day things go back to normal?
We wouldn’t have seen our coworkers in months. Some will come back looking like they’re 10 years younger; others will come back looking like they did a hard 10 to 15 in the pen sans the yard workouts.
Don’t be that person.
Yes, the economy is rough right now; but invest in yourself. Find time for self-care and keep your health as a priority.
You’ll never find time, so make time.
I can always tell when my fitness life is tanking. I start eating like garbage, feeling sluggish and tired, and getting into an overall funk.
Not gonna lie. I’m there. LOL!
But I just motivated myself to turn this mess around real quick. Hello, keto! Plus, I bought a new keto book (with soul) that I know will keep me on track.
I’m going to MAKE time to cook those recipes. I’m going to MAKE time to do my at-home workouts and have Jillian Michaels yell at me. I’m going to MAKE time to care for myself the best I can, given the circumstances. 💪🏾
That way, I’ll feel better about myself and not have to miss a beat when life gets back to normal.
I might even get my nails done or something when salons open back up. (Who am I kidding? I’d probably just go to Wal-Mart and get those press-ons. 💅🏾 LOL!)
Either way, even though you might not have Dat ‘Rona, make sure you’re healthy in other ways as well.
In this week’s video, I’ll be detailing what I’m doing to stay fit while working from home and homeschooling during this social distancing life. Give me some of your tips as well!
