Oh my goodness. I can honestly say that my favorite pastime is now SLEEP.
So sorry to be gone for so long. I really don’t know where all the time has gone, actually. One week turned into two… and then it all went downhill from there. LOL! 😆
Thanks for all of you who checked up on me. Yes, I’m alive. Yes, my son is going fantastic. And yes, my husband still does his “daddy daycare” routines. 😉
But what some of you don’t know is that my sister moved in with us at the end of May. Yup… she’s up and moving to Missouri, so she’s staying with us until August. (It’s not a bad thing. She’s a great addition/helper/babysitter…)
She actually has a great testimony about how she went from basically jobless and homeless to getting multiple job offers and the apartment she wanted. Want to hear about it? Of course you do. 🙂
So, instead of me talking about myself (which I will continue doing every week), I’ll share her story from an email she sent friends and family. Yes, it’s not as short and sweet as my usual posts, but just read it and watch how God worked. Geeesh! 😀
Hey fam! I got a teaching job! I will be a Social Studies teacher at Grandview Middle School in Grandview, Missouri! I am very excited and grateful for all of the support and prayers I received. I have to share the best news— how I got the job. God went above and beyond my expectations!
Originally, I went to MO for one week. I had two elementary school interviews. (I wasn’t too excited about them, especially since I learned that I would have to teach all core subjects—even for upper elementary). However, I was going to give it a shot!
I had my first interview on Saturday. Let’s just say, I didn’t leave that interview hoping to get an elementary position.
By Tuesday, I was wondering, Where are all of the secondary positions?!
So I did a random job search for school districts near Kansas City, MO. I found Grandview ISD. I never even knew this district existed, but they had just posted a social studies position that day!
I applied and emailed the principal to let her know that I was very interested… and that I was leaving on Friday, so I was hoping for an interview before I left the state. (Yes, a bit bold, but I was that serious about landing that interview.)
I got a call on Wednesday morning for a Friday morning interview!
I was thrilled as I prepared for elementary interview #2. It went great, and I left feeling good that if I was offered that position. I wouldn’t mind getting the job, but I was still looking forward to Friday’s interview.
Friday morning came. This was it. This was the job I wanted so badly. It is in an excellent district; and from the school’s website, it seemed like a really great school.
I went into the three-panel interview with the administrators, answered their questions, and did a sample lesson—this time in front of a class of summer school students. When my 10 minutes were up, the summer school teacher whispered, “Good job!” As I was leaving, the students starting clapping. The female assistant principal walked me out and said, “They didn’t clap for anyone else… that should tell you something.”
After the interview, the other male assistant principal walked me out and said, “I think the principal is leaning towards offering you the job…”
As I was waiting for my ride outside of the office, the principal walked out and told me, “I plan on offering you the job if your references pan out. I’m glad you emailed me. Summer school ends on Monday and your email got me thinking that we better fill that position before we leave for break.”
I was ecstatic! My references definitely won them over because by 5 pm, I got a call from HR offering me the job! (To top it off, the elementary school from Wednesday’s interview then called to offer me a job as well. Of course I had to let them know that I had already accepted an offer 10 minutes earlier.)
Wow. I am in awe of how God orchestrated it all. I landed a job I didn’t know existed when I left Texas. But I had a “dream job” by the time I got back on the plane. If nothing else, I hope this testimony lets you know how much God cares about your dreams and concerns. He knows what is best. You just need to trust Him and take that leap of faith.
I can’t wait to see what else God has in store!
Thanks again for all of your support and prayers. They were clearly heard and answered. 😉
So there you have it.
As the old church mothers say, “God is still in the miracle working business, huntaaay!” Well… they don’t say “huntaaay,” but they’d be much cooler if they did. 8)
Stay encouraged, and I’ll update you with pictures and my crazy ol’ life in my next post. Bye! 😛
