A Glimpse Into Motherhood

My goodness. Is this the first time I’m writing you guys this week? Forgive me. I’ve been tired, and busy, and… lazy. HA! But I had to suck it up today and update you about life.

I’m in the “less than a month to go” phase of pregnancy. I’m healthy, the baby’s healthy, and that’s all you want to know about that. 😉

Anyways, I must tell you about an experience I had with my husband yesterday because it made me realize that life as I know it is about to change now that my house will be outnumbered by males. 😯

——-

Procrastination MemePOT LUCK. Those are the two words that turned a usually calm morning routine into calamity.

My husband had a pot luck at work on Thursday. They told him to bring rice. He didn’t remember until Wednesday night that he needed to have it, but he brushed it off and said he’ll just do it in the morning. “Besides, all you have to do is put it in water and watch it boil, right?” 😕

So the next morning, he woke up early to go to Wal-Mart and got rice and a tupperware bowl. (But of course he woke me up in the process to ask what kind of rice to buy.) I was able to get back to sleep, but it wasn’t long until I heard the door open, accompanied by a flip of a light switch, and the clamoring of pots.

After I heard an occasional “Man!” and “Dangit!”, I knew it was time to suck it up, wake up, and do it myself.

Like a zombie, I hobbled to the kitchen with my eyes still a little blurred from sleep. I looked in the pot my husband was using and saw what he thought was going to be rice. I dumped it out, filled the pot with water, and proceeded to make the rice myself. “All you have to do is put it in water and watch it boil, right?” 😡

All and all, the rice turned out fine, and he was able to take it into work that day.

It felt like I was making last-minute cupcakes for a grade school party. And since my little man will be his father’s son… heaven, help me! But then again, I remember many-a-times in school when I had a major project due the next day that I never started, and my sister was “all hands on deck” all night so that I would have the best one in class… 😐

The moral of the story is: my husband and I are procrastinators. Lord, break the curse! LOL!
