Momma’s Boy โ€” It’s Gift and a Curse

0 Permalink 1

My husband first told me this, but I didn’t believe it until recentlyโ€”my son is a momma’s boy.Momma's Boy

It started out with Jayden just wanting me to be the one who rocks him to sleep. No biggie. After all, he did live inside of me for nine months. ๐Ÿ˜›

But gradually, there has been fewer and fewer things that he will allow his dad to do with him.

“Awww… how sweet! I’d love for my child to cling to me like that. Too cute.”

Sure sure. It sounds great… until you break down what it truly means. ๐Ÿ˜

The Good

Obviously it’s cool that your child prefers you to do things. I’m glad I can be the one to pacify him when he gets cranky.

It lets me know that he recognizes me, appreciates me, and likes being near me. ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s also easier for me to go places with him because I know that as long as I’m in view, he’ll be just fine. We go to stores, restaurants, outings, etc. and don’t have to worry about a random tantrum (could be a completely different story when he’s a toddler, though :/ ).

The Bad

I can’t do much of anything alone without having to stop and rescue Jayden from another screaming bout. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

For the most part, he’s cool with hanging with his dad during the daytime and wanting me at night. (Remember daddy daycare?)

But this weekend, he was wanting to be my little mini me all day. ๐Ÿ˜•

My mission for the weekend was to clean and disinfect the whole house in between the time it took me to wash my hair (and I mentioned how long that takes me).

The problem was that every time I got into my “cleaning groove”, Jayden would get louder and louder.

Clean out the fridge. *Whimper*. Sweep and mop the floor. *Whine*. Wipe down the counters. *Cry*. Hang up the Clothes. *Scream*. ๐Ÿ˜ก

It was so frustrating! Why is he only wanting me this afternoon?

Jay Wrapped on My Back

“What? You’ve never seen a baby on his mom’s back or somethin’?”

I put off washing my hair and cleaning the house for too long to let that deter me. So what did I do?

Go straight back to my African roots. Lol! ๐Ÿ˜†

I tied him on my back and kept it pushing. He actually acted like it was nothing new (must be that Nigerian blood in him… ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and eventually fell asleep as I was sweeping.

Ummm… I feel like I need to explain this pic. The bummy clothes are because it was laundry day (but I’m pretty sure I would have lounged around like that either way), and the t-shirt on my head was to dry my hair off (because I just finished washing the conditioner out). I never said I was cute while I was cleaning. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Anyways, another con about having a momma’s boy is that my social life is virtually nonexistent. I certainly wasn’t the social butterfly before having him; but now, meeting someone for dinner is a race against time.

“Okay, Hope. You have 2 hours (3 hours if you’re feeling lucky) to go out, eat, laugh, wrap it up, and head right back!”

Otherwise, I’ll start getting texts from Brandon saying Jayden won’t go to sleep, and then I’ll return home with the ability to hear Jayden wailing as I swerve into the driveway. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

But no worries, everyone! Brandon is still able to go out whenever he wants without Jayden batting an eye… ๐Ÿ™„

Sometimes it can be a bit of a pain, but who could resist that face wanting you?

You can have your fun now, Brandon; but life won’t be so fun anymore when my ally starts walking and talking. Enjoy it now, sir… enjoy it now… ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
